Hi! My name is Evelyn Kessler.

I am a front-end software developer and a senior at Olin College of Engineering, actively seeking an entry-level opportunity at an organization that is dedicated to driving meaningful change in the world.

As a designer and developer, I prioritize usability and accessibility above all else. When I join a team, I bring not only my hands-on experience in (iOS) app and web development, but also my comprehensive background in user experience design and a practical understanding of accessibility practices.

navishare

Precise, Short Distance Navigation for the Blind and Visually Impaired

navishare uses ARKit and Google Cloud Anchors to visually record maps of indoor spaces. These crowdsourced maps make unfamiliar spaces accessible to blind and visually impaired users. As a developer on navishare I implemented the voiceover and low vision accessible interface while advising new team members and coordinating with the backend team. Before assuming a developer role I also designed the user experience and interface for the app.

Dahlia

Health Tracking for Chronic Illness and Disability

Designed specifically for the needs of those with complex illnesses and disabilities, Dahlia is a build-it-yourself health tracking app. Users can create custom trackers for any aspect of their health and track their symptoms, medications, and more. As a passion project, Dahlia has been a great opportunity to improve my skills in wireframing, interface design, and iOS development.

Building a Portfolio Website from Scratch

This website was built from scratch using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. I designed the icons in Adobe Illustrator and used Figma to plan the layout and (AAA accessible) color scheme. I took care to organize my code using HTML containers and add alt text to make the site easy to navigate with voiceover. As a bonus, I created a custom loading animation using Figma and Principle.
